 | | Description: | At the E-Live Festival 2011 in the Dutch city of Oirschot (near Eindhoven), the absolute top act was the new formation Loom - This was mainly due to the line-up of the band, which consists of Johannes Schmoelling, Jerome Froese and Robert Waters - The first two should be known to all electronic fans, as they were members of the cult formation Tangerine Dream for several years. In spring 2012, the recording of this unique concert was released on a double CD. Even if you don't see the protagonists, you can guess which magical moment it was when Johannes Schmoelling played the opening track "Palace Of Dreams" solo on a grand piano. He manages to give this wonderful piece a certain intimacy and also intensity and shows quite clearly what influence he had on the music of Tangerine Dream. After this haunting opener, at the beginning of "Modulation Agents", synth pads float through the room, only to give way to a driving sequencer rhythm shortly after. It is impressive how Schmoelling, Froese and Waters manage to create such an incredible, dense atmosphere.* Some of the early orders came with a Loom promo postcard.

"Scored (live 2011)" on CD by Loom captures an intense concert moment of this acclaimed electronic project, presenting their music in a raw, direct and emotionally charged live setting. The recording lets you experience the energy of the performance as if you were standing in front of the stage: evolving soundscapes, driving sequencer lines and atmospheric passages are woven together into a coherent live concept. The tracks unfold with dynamic build-ups, detailed arrangements and a strong sense of dramaturgy, making this CD particularly appealing to listeners who value immersive electronic music beyond simple dancefloor functionality. Thanks to the live context, improvisational nuances, extended transitions and spontaneous interactions between the musicians come to the foreground, lending the album a vibrant, unique character that clearly distinguishes it from a conventional studio production.
The sound quality of "Scored (live 2011)" emphasizes depth and spatial dimension: broad stereo images, carefully balanced layers and a warm, clear mix contribute to a listening experience that works both on high-quality hi-fi systems and on headphones. Subtle details, evolving pads and rhythmic accents invite repeated listening, revealing new facets with every playthrough. As a physical CD edition, the release underlines the value of tangible music media for collectors and enthusiasts of sophisticated electronic sound design, offering a focused, album-length journey instead of a random playlist experience.
Loom is an electronic music project that builds on the heritage of classic German electronic sound while developing it further with contemporary production approaches and a strong live orientation. The group is known for creating expansive, cinematic pieces that bridge ambient textures, sequencer-driven rhythms and melodic elements. Through their work, Loom have earned a loyal following among fans of atmospheric, narrative-driven electronic music and have repeatedly stood out for their ability to translate complex studio compositions convincingly to the stage. Their releases and concerts are often highlighted for the way they combine technical finesse with emotional impact, positioning Loom as a distinctive voice within the broader electronic scene.
