Description:2015 collection of classic hits recorded by Country icon George Jones. Country music existed before and after George Jones, but there are very few artists who have left the kind of impact he did on the genre. HITS BY GEORGE includes 10 of the 270 songs George Jones recorded from 1965 thru 1971 on the Musicor Records label. Jones' good-timin' Rockabilly classic titled "White Lightnin'" was Jones' first #1-hit. It topped the charts in 1959 when it was first released. Ironically, Jones didn't even want to record the song because he felt like it compromised his pure Country image. Jones is back at his Country best on "Accidentally on Purpose," a #19-hit in 1960. It is one of many songs written by George Jones, a fact so often overshadowed by his incredible vocals. George Jones' beautiful, but heartrending, vocals on "Window Up Above" made it a huge #2-hit in 1960. Jones' touching "Tender Years" was a #1-hit in 1961. In 1962, "She Thinks I Still Care" was another milestone #1-hit song for Jones. Enjoy George Jones at his best on each of these great Musicor recordings.
