Extra-Infos: Previously Unreleased Album For Rca Reissued
Description:Digitally remastered edition of this 1973 album. Originally the quartet Patti Labelle & the Blue belle), the transformation from bouffant wigs and the reworking on standards to a futuristic, space-age-clad trio of high-powered vocalists finally took hold with the release of PRESSURE COOKIN'. The album boasted seven compositions by member Nona Hendryx including the now-classic '(Can I Speak to You Before You Go To) Hollywood?' which became a staple of the trio's dynamic live performances. Stevie Wonder penned the album's lone single, 'Open Up Your Heart' as well as co-producing the track and 'Going on a Holiday' (although not credited for contractual reasons on both cuts). PRESSURE COOKIN' also included an inspiring medley of Thunderclap Newman's 'Something in the Air' and Gil Scott-Heron's timeless 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.' Includes notes by renowned US writer A. Scott Galloway with quotes from Vicki Wickham, Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash.
Track 6: Co-produced by special guest Stevie Wonder, uncredited as such for contractual reasons, with the production credit listed as "Vicki Wickham and friend". Musician on this track included members of a band out of Philly called Buff and others from a Latin-black band out of Queens called Harlem River Drive. Several of them would morph to become Labelle's road band, including guitarist Eddie Martinez. Recorded at RCA's Studio D, New York City ? 1973 RCA Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, ? 2014 Soul Music Records. Licensed courtesy of Sony Music Entertainment UK Ltd.
